Jordan stayed with me for a week or so after her semester ended. David started his summer job in Louisiana and Jordan had a few days here after he left before she went to AZ for a nursing internship.
It's always good having her around.
(Well, except for when she spilled nail polish on my new carpet. I definitely wanted to sell her that day).
This year, more than most, I was feeling bummed about Mother's Day. Not because I don't have a fantastic mom, awesome grandmas and other great women in my life, but I was just feeling a little 'wo is me' because I want nothing more than to have my own kids. Usually, things are good and I am so happy about where I am in life, but sometimes I get really sad that it hasn't been in the plan for me to be married and have kids (why am I crying about it still?!).
Hopefully one day soon.
I usually don't go to church on Mother's Day. It's just too dang hard. It started a few years ago when the young men were handing out carnations to all the moms and this poor little deacon was standing by me trying to decide if I got one or not. First of all, I hate carnations and second, it was a super awkward moment. So, I don't typically go on this particular day in order to avoid future awkward "do I give it to you or not" moments. I also don't really need a whole day to be reminded that I don't currently have the blessing of being a mom.
Well, not with my own children anyway. For the past 24.5 years, I have had the awesome opportunity to 'mother' Jordan. Since she was staying with me, it was easier to make it through church. It was actually a really good day.
And, she got me 2 of my favorite things ----> tulips and Magnum Double ice cream bars.
She's the best!
